I am a recovering member of several faith traditions who hold to the idea of "original sin," and from time to time I ponder the definition of that. Perhaps one strong thread in that fabric of original sin is this idea of "us" and "them," with "them" being the undesirable ones, the less holy (or unholy), the befuddled or deluded, the heretics, and the outsiders. Hence Jesus' prayer, "May they all be one..."

Having said that, I live less than 5 miles from the <a href="http://www.icgt.org/images/Outside-2.jpg">The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo</a>, self-proclaimed as one of the largest mosques in North America. There is a <i>huge</i> Muslim population in the Detroit/Toledo corridor (hence the huge mosque), which 90% of the population of northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan know <i>nothing about</i>. And I'm one of 'em, sadly. I need to work on that...
